Pride is supposed to be a protest, so what better way to spend Pride than lifting up the voices of those of our LGBT+ community seeking asylum in the US?
Since 2014, the US-Mexico border has seen a surge in the number of people seeking protection from violence and insecurity in Central America. Among those are often queer individuals, who need support and investment from the community to survive.
Cristian Sanchez of RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services) will speak on their work with trans asylum seekers and a RAICES client will share her story, giving emphasis to why our action is necessary.
